Weekend Wrap-Up

Welcome to the first weekend wrap up of the 2007 season.
Men's
  • At the inaugural Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium on March 3, eight former Under Armour All-Americans squared off.

    The first game showcased Princeton with Jeremy Hirsch against Johns Hopkins with Steven Boyle and Mike Kimmel(see picture). Boyle recorded his first collegiate hat trick, and Kimmel chipped in with three assists, the second of which led to a Boyle goal. Hirch, Boyle and Kimmel have each seen action in their respective team's first two games.

    In the second with Virginia and Syracuse squaring off, five alums showcased their skills on the field. Ken Clausen was part of a defense that limited Syracuse to one goal in the second half, while collecting a team-high six groundballs. Brian Carroll's third goal of the year tied the score at 4-4. Carroll, Clausen, George Huguely and Ryan Nizolek have seen action in all three of the Cavalier games thus far, while May Bartig has played in all three of the Orange's games.

  • In Hewlett, N.Y., Will Yeatman (pictured) scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season to give him the team lead in points, but his team fell 13-8 against Austin Boykin's Cornell squad.

  • Greg Casey had an assist in Drexel's 11-3 win over St. Joseph's.

  • Andrew Brancaccio (2), Chris Nixon and Craig Dowd each scored in the Hoyas win over St. John's.

  • Dillon Roy grabbed five groundballs, John Dickenson had a goal and an assist and Charley Dickenson had an assist as Denver upset #19 UMBC on Sunday.

  • Dartmouth's Ari Sussman tallied three goals and Casey Hingtgen picked up six groundballs in the Big Green's loss to Fairfield on Saturday.

  • Evan Sullivan and Jaren Woeppel (3 groundballs) each each saw playing time in Navy's 19-8 win over North Carolina. Sean Burke had two goals and two assists in a losing effort.

  • Chris Hogan scored a goal in Penn State's 10-9 to Loyola.

    Women's
  • In the game of the weekend, Maryland behind two goals from Caitlyn McFadden upset second-seeded Duke 19-18. Lindsay Gilbride tallied two goals for the Blue Devils who lost for the first time all year. Former UA AAs Sara Giedgowd and Danielle Kachulis also saw action for Duke.

  • Brittany Kalkstein scored three goals and Kaitlin Duff added one as Virginia upended Syracuse despite three goals from Halley Quillinan.

  • Katrina Dowd has two goals and two assists in Northwestern's 18-10 win over Notre Dame. Caroline Tesar and Katrina Dowd also saw action in the victory.

  • Kristen Taylor had two goals and one assist, while Megan Bosica (pictured)had a goal and a team-high four assists in North Carolina's 14-6 victory over Temple. Jenn Russell also received playing time in the triumph.

  • Nicole Flego, a recent CAA Rookie of the Week honoree, scored a goal and dished out an assist, while Emily Schaknowski added an assist, but it wasn't enough as Brooke Cantwell's two goals paced Rutgers to a 15-12 win.

  • Traci Landy, MVP of the All-America Girl's Game, tallied two goals, including one against former North Team teammate Mary Cuddihy, and Caitlin Defliese was stout on the defensive end to help Boston U. defeat Hofstra, 14-10.

  • Sam Schrum had two goals in Johns Hopkins' 10-11 overtime loss to Princeton. Angela Hughes, Brett Bathras and Kim Dubansky each played for the Blue Jays, while Kristin Morrisongot in the game for the Tigers.

  • Ali Flury led all scores with five goals and an assist for five points in Denver's win over Longwood.
