NCAA Tournament Update
Men
Virginia 8, Maryland 7 (OT) - Rhamel Bratton scored once and Bran Carroll added an assist to help Virginia advance to the semifinals. The Terps had built a 7-4 lead thanks to two goals each from Grant Catalino and Brian Carroll and an assist from Bryn Holmes, while Brian Phipps made three saves before being pulled at halftime.
Johns Hopkins 10, Navy 4 - Steven Boyle's first two goals tied up the game with Navy and his third ended a 6-0 run by the Blue Jays. Michael Kimmel added an assist and Michael Gvozden made 13 saves in the win.
Duke 21, Ohio State 10 - Max Quinzani scored five goals and added an assist to help Duke advance to the semifinals for the second straight year.
Syracuse 11, Notre Dame 9 - John Galloway made 11 saves, including two in the final minutes to preserve the victory for the Orange. Zach Brenneman's lone goal of the game gave the Irish a 9-8 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the contest.
Women
Syracuse 13, North Carolina 11 - Halley Quillinan's second goal of the game at 8:30 remaining in the fourth quarter gave the Orange the lead for good. Megan Bosica (four goals), Kristen Taylor (two goals, one assist), Jenn Russell (one goal) and Corey Donohoe (one goal) were all key to the Carolina attack, with Bosica scoring the last two goals for the Tar Heels, one of which gave them a brief lead.
Duke 9, Maryland 7 - Lindsay Gilbride and Christie Kaestner each scored during a three-goal late in the second half to put the Blue Devils up for good. Gilbride had also scored earlier in the game and Emma Hamm and Danielle Kachulis each tallied a goal for the Blue Devils. Caitlyn McFadden led the Terps with three goals in defeat.
Northwestern 18, Princeton 11 - Katrina Dowd had three goals and an assists and Danielle Spencer and Brooke Matthews each added two to help the Wildcats advance to the semifinals again. Kristin Morrison had a goal and an assist for the Tigers.
Pennsylania 8, Boston U. 5 - Giulia Giordano's goal tied the game at 2 and Ali DeLuca's score put the the final touches on the victory. Traci Landy had two assists for the Terriers.
